De-icing salt is one of the most insidious enemies of concrete pavement: it drives chloride into the matrix and accelerates freeze-thaw scaling. When the Hungarian motorway authority commissioned Colas to rebuild a stretch of the E75 at Torokbalint, near Budapest, it chose concrete over asphalt for durability - and Evercrete Pavishield to protect it.
Around 10,000 square metres of carriageway were treated. Pavishield consolidates the surface, resists continuous traffic wear and is certified for contact with de-icing salts; it carries CE marking under EN 1504-2. Project supervision and application support came from Ecobeton Hungary.
