Mestre Motorway Bypass: Vetrofluid on 32.5 km of Infrastructure

2008 - retaining walls, slabs and foundation rafts on a European corridor

The Passante di Mestre is a 32.5-kilometre motorway built to take through-traffic off the congested Mestre ring road outside Venice. It forms part of the Barcelona-Kiev-Adriatic European corridor, and it was delivered by a consortium of some of Italy's largest contractors.

Across the scheme, earth-retaining walls, slabs and foundation rafts were treated with Evercrete Vetrofluid as a protective and waterproofing measure. On buried and semi-buried structures, treating the concrete itself provides a defence that does not depend on the integrity of a membrane - and can be applied quickly across large areas without specialist detailing.
