The underpass at Fontaniva was built using a box-jacking method: a concrete portal frame was cast beside the railway, on top of the retaining walls for the access ramps, then pushed beneath the live tracks with hydraulic jacks. Every hour of possession counts on a job like this.
That is where the speed of Ecobeton's system paid off. The rising walls and the slab - roughly 1,000 square metres - were waterproofed with Evercrete Vetrofluid, with Strutturale repair mortar used where reinstatement was needed, all in a single working day.
