Venice Marco Polo Airport: Protecting the Heliport Apron

2003 - reducing maintenance on airside concrete for SAVE SpA

Airport maintenance is a constant tension between the work that needs doing and the time available to do it. Every intervention on airside concrete means closures, so anything that stretches the interval between repairs has real operational value.

Drawing on Ecobeton's experience with accredited laboratories and civil and military infrastructure, engineer Mario Scagnetto of airport operator SAVE SpA specified Evercrete Pavishield for total, permanent protection of the heliport concrete - both the apron and its ancillary structures - against freeze-thaw cycles and plastic shrinkage cracking. The operator later reported clear benefits in the maintenance of the surfaces.
